Yvonne Owens is a Marie Curie PhD Fellow at the University College of London. She writes mainly on historical representations of women and the gendering of evil ‘defect’ in humanist art, theology, literature and the sciences. Ms. Owens has been writing art criticism for over a decade. Her critical writing has appeared in both Canadian and American arts journals, and she has authored three books on the intersections among creativity, mythology, classical shamanism and folklore. She is Professor of Art History, Language and Philosophy of Art, and Critical Studies at the Victoria College of Art in Victoria, British Columbia.
